Summer is here and with it comes the desire to walk on the sand and feel the waves of the sea. All of us who have had the chance to enjoy the beach know that it is an incredible place where we can connect with ourselves, with the sound of the sea and the smell that characterises it. The beach makes us feel free and gives us the opportunity to experience extraordinary feelings… and, in Barcelona, we know what we’re talking about.

In addition to all its tourist attractions, Barcelona is one of the cities with the best urban beaches in the world, beaches very well connected and with all the services, the only problem is that in summer, with the massive arrival of tourists to the city, they are always overcrowded. However, fortunately, very close to Barcelona you can find beautiful beaches for all tastes that are well worth a visit. We present below a TOP 5 of beaches near the city of Barcelona:

1. Platja de La Roberta del Prat de Llobregat
The beach of El Prat is located in the Llobregat Delta and has a total length of 5.5km divided into different sections. The section of the beach of La Roberta is one of the most famous as it is a protected area due to its high natural value where the dunes and nature are the most characteristic elements of this paradisiacal landscape.

How to get there?

Public transport: from the metro stop Parc Nou on line L9S you can take the PR3 bus which goes all the way to the beach area (1h 20min).

Car: 20km away (30 minutes)



2. Platja del Pont del Petroli de Badalona
Urban beach of about 370m length located in the municipality of Badalona. It owes its name to the curious footbridge perpendicular to the coast, with a length of 250m and a height of about 6m. This footbridge has become a symbol of the Badalona coastline.

How to get there?

Public transport: from the Pep Ventura metro station on line L2 you can walk down to the beach, which is approximately 1km away (35 minutes).

Car: 10km away (20 minutes).



3. Platja de les Roques de Calella
This 750m long and 25m wide beach is located in the municipality of Calella de Mar in the Maresme region. Platja de les Roques has a privileged and exclusive setting. To the south of the town centre, and in an area of great natural beauty, this small beach surrounded by pine trees and cliffs, invites swimming and chilling at any time of the day.

How to get there?

Public transport: from the Clot metro station on line L2 you can take the R1 train towards «Maçanet-Massanes» and get off at the «Sant Pol de Mar» stop. Then you have to walk about 15 minutes (1.5km) until you reach the beach (1h 30min).

By car: 50km away (40 minutes).



4. Platja de les Casetes del Garraf
The beach of Les Casetes del Garraf is one of the treasures of the region. A small beach slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of Sitges that combines the tranquillity of the Mediterranean beaches with a tremendously picturesque setting. It is a small beach about 380 metres long and its average width is 28 metres.

How to get there?

Public transport: from Sants Station (metro L5) you can take the R2S train towards «Vilanova i La Geltrú» and get off at the «Garraf» stop. Then you have to walk for about 2 minutes (190m) to the beach (1h).

By car: 35km away (40 minutes).



5. Platja dels Tres Micos a Caldes d’Estrac
The beach of Els Tres Micos is one of the most pleasant and cleanest urban beaches in the region. It is located in the municipality of Caldes d’Estrac, known for its thermal tradition since the 20th century. The beach is 700 metres long and about 50 metres wide. It is a large beach, with many services and well communicated, excellent for families looking for a place to enjoy themselves without any worries.

How to get there?

Public transport: from the Clot metro station on line L2 you can take the train R1 towards «Maçanet-Massanes» and get off at the «Caldes d’Estrac» stop. Then you have to walk about 8 minutes (700m) until you reach the beach (1h).

By car: 40km away (35 minutes).
